Benefits of Strawberry

Strawberry

Strawberries have a common scientific name of Fragaria that have a different suffix for different varieties and are widely appreciated for its characteristic aroma, sweetness, bright red color and juicy texture. Strawberry flavorings are widely used in many products like candies, hand sanitizers, lip gloss, perfumes and many other products. From a botanical point of view, its just not a berry but is an aggregate accessory fruit. On average strawberry has 200 seeds on the external membrane, each apparent seed on the outside is actually one of the ovaries of the flower, with a seed inside it. Strawberries vary widely in size, flavor, shape, color and the degree of fertility and season of ripening. This fruit matures in midsummer and should be picked when fully ripe.

Eye care

The presence of free radicals caused due to deficiency of certain nutrients is the primary reason for almost all problems related to the eye which increases with the increased age which then causes heavy damage to the eyes. Dry eyes are caused by degeneration of the optical nerves, macular degeneration, vision defects and increased susceptibility to infections.

Antioxidants such as phenolic, flavonoids, phytochemicals, and ellagic acid are present in strawberries which can help avoid these situations to a large extent. Strawberries can fix the disturbance in ocular pressure that means the pressure within the eyes. Any disturbance in this pressure can cause harm to the eyes. Strawberries are helpful because they contain potassium, which helps in maintaining the correct ocular pressure.

Treats arthritis and gout

Drying up the fluid helps in increasing mobility of the joints and accumulation of toxic substances and acids in the body which are ultimately the effects of free radicals and are the primary causes of arthritis and gout. Strawberries are abundant in antioxidants and detoxifiers which help in treating these conditions.

It is said that a serving of fruits every day will remove the “rust” from joints, this old saying is definitely true for strawberries because it has powerful anti-inflammatory ability to ease the inflammation and associated pain from these types of conditions.

Boosts brain function

Bananas and strawberries are known as brain food. They are rich in iodine which is helpful for the proper functioning of the brain and nervous tissue. It is very common for old people to start losing their memory and control over certain activities, limbs, and muscles. This is due to the natural and premature aging of their brain and nervous system. Free radicals are the agents responsible for aging because they have an adverse effect. Due to the activity of free radicals, the brain tissues start degenerating and the nerves become weaker. Strawberries can help you avoid these unfortunate conditions in life.

Reduces hypertension and improves heart function

Strawberries are rich in potassium and magnesium content which are effective in lowering blood pressure which is caused by sodium and various other risk factors. Strawberries contain potassium that is a vasodilator which reduces hypertension and the rigidity of blood vessels by lowering blood pressure, easing the flow of blood to various parts of the body, and keeping them functioning at their full potential. It reduces cholesterol in the arteries and vessels. Vitamin B is also present in strawberries that strengthens the cardiac muscles and leads to better functioning of the heart.
